Christmas Markets 2022 in Poznań
Betlejem Poznańskie (The Poznań Bethlehem), or simply Poznań Christmas market, will be unique. It sounds trivial, but it is true. It is all because it will start on 18 November and will take place in as many as four locations. A new addition will be the Poznań International Fair.
From Saturday, 19 November until 23 December 2022, you will be invited to enjoy a festive atmosphere in the space of the historical over 100-year-old fair. It is the place where you will find a Ferris wheel, ice rink and on the second weekend of December (10-11.12.2022), the International Ice Sculpture Festival will take place. Artists from all over the world will be turning large blocks of ice into real works of art on the very eyes of the crowd.
Also at the fair, the Poznań Tourism Organisation will have its own stand, where there will be a chance to buy official Poznań souvenirs, including the iconic Christmas edition socks, as well as receive tourist information.
The day before, from Friday 18 November, it will be possible to visit the well-known Christmas Market at Plac Wolności (Freedom Square), tempting visitors with its wooden houses and plenty of attractions. It is thanks in part to this that Poznań came third in the European Best Christmas Markets 2021 competition organised by European Best Destinations.
In addition, the Poznań Bethlehem will take place from 3 to 18 December on Plac Kolegiacki. This is one of the more charming places in the Old Town, where, thanks to glass installations in the square's surface, archaeological relics can be seen, including the unique heart of a bell from centuries ago.
The fairs on Plac Wolności and Plac Kolegiacki will remain in Poznań until 27 December 2022. And if you are looking for an authentic local atmosphere, you can additionally drop by the Rynek Łazarski (St. Lazarus Market) between 3 and 18 December to experience the atmosphere of one of Poznań's historic districts.
None of these places will be short of mulled wine, local delicacies, souvenirs and, above all, a unique atmosphere, highlighted by Christmas illuminations.
