The results of the 5th editon of Wielkopolska Chef of the Year are in! Fifth edition of the Rafał Jelewski Wielkopolska Chef of the Year competition took place on June 8th 2018 in PURO Hotels Poznań. After a whole day of competition efforts interspersed with shows, lectures and a dinner - as a part of the “Poznań Chefs Together” initiative - the winners were finally announced! The podium was taken by Marcin Borowczyk Blow Up Hall 5050 Hotel (1st place), Kajetan Świokła Hotel DeSilva Premium Poznań (2nd place) and Marcin Owsiany Hotel HP Park Poznań (3rd place). The winner is also an automatic participant of the Poland Culinary Cup 2018 finale - the most prestigious culinary competition in the country. This year’s edition of Wielkopolska Chef of the Year was hosted by Jakub Ignyś, the chef of PURO Hotel’s Nifty No.20 and winner of the Wielkopolska Chef of the Year from 2015. This year’s competition task was to prepare a main dish based in Wielkopolska region rump cut OR sirloin eye (participants had to pick one of the two), yeast and asparagus. The meat for the practice and the competition was supplied by MCKEEN-BEEF whose decision to support this exceptional competition we wholeheartedly applaud.

A little bit of background
The Wielkopolska Chef of the Year competition has been taking place in Poznań since 2001 and has had 10 editions before it was suspended between 2011 and 2013. In 2014, the gastronomy and hospitality establishment has decided to bring the competition back, dedicating it to the memory of chef Rafał Jelewski who died tragically.
