Poznań will host the XXIII International Congress of Historical Sciences in 2020

Poznań has been awarded the right to organize the XXIII International Congress of Historical Sciences in 2020. The next congress (this event is organized every five years) will take place in the capital of Wielkopolska.

The choice of Poznań as the organizer of the Congress has been announced on Saturday, August 29th, during the closing gala of the XXII International Congress of Historical Sciences (ICHS) in Jinan, the capital of the Chinese province of Shandong. The organizers also considered Tampere in Finland and Athens as the place of the next congress. The immense joy among the people and communities involved in the attempts to gain the right to organize this prestigious event is made even greater by the fact that the congress takes place every five years. In over a hundred years of the ICHS’ existence, Poland will play its host for the second time - the seventh edition of the event took place in Warsaw in 1933.
