Poznań one of the best travel destinations in Europe

European Best Destination's competition for the best travel destinations in the year 2019 is over. Poznań, this year's only Polish city placed high, at 5th position, joining the best European four.

Its position in the top 5 Poznań owes to its inhabitants, tourists and sympathizers from all over the world. Over 43.000 people voted for Poznań, which is a record among any other Polish city taking part in the contest. Dozens institutions engaged in campaign, encouraging to vote.

'It is a success, which shows how important cooperation is. We thank all those who promoted the event and gave their vote to Poznań.' says Jan Mazurczak, the chief of Poznań Local Tourist Organization.

'Commendations from European Best Destination are significant not only for the image or prestige. They increase progress in tourism in nominated and awarded cities. Just being part of the competition is a reason to be proud. Good score not only makes us happy. It is a sign that, as a city, we are heading in the right direction.' explains Patryk Pawełczak, director of the President's Office in Poznań.

High result is very satysfying, especially when we look at our rivals, such as Vienna, Rome, Athens or Berlin. Altogether over 515.000 votes from 153 countries were given. First place went to Budapest.

It is worth mentioning that organizers themselves, while justifying Poznań's nomination, pointed rich and attractive history, variety, freshness and quality of the offer, also studentish atmosphere and great interest in social media.
